Succ Cannon Mac OS
I have taken pictures with Canon DSLR cameras for almost 1 year. The first thing I cared about was the platform of viewing and editing pictures on Mac OS X. Some tools I mention below are important building blocks of my photography platform: A picture manager. Mac OS X sets iPhoto as its default picture manager. We have discovered some issues with the compatibility of Canon’s Camera Window DC, EOS Utility and Map Utility software programs with Mac OS X v10.12 Sierra that may cause certain functions of such Canon software not to work. Before upgrading your OS to Mac OS X 10.12 Sierra, please review the compatibility chart below. I have a Cannon Pixma 620 printer I also am using A Mac computer with the Big Sur version 11.2.3, I can't use the printer anymore because I need -I guess- an update can you help me to get the right on.

1. The platform
I have taken pictures with Canon DSLR cameras for almost 1 year. The first thing I cared about was the platform of viewing and editing pictures on Mac OS X. Some tools I mention below are important building blocks of my photography platform:
A picture manager
Mac OS X sets iPhoto as its default picture manager. However, I am disappointed of using iPhoto. It stores pictures in a non-trivial location, and you can’t browse or play with your pictures on Finder. Moreover, iPhoto is less powerful than Picasa on quick editing photos. I’m using Picasa and in love with its seemingless integration to Picasa Web and its power on making quick changes of your pictures.
A picture editor
Honestly, I’m not kind of people who are interested in exploring sophisticated systems like Photoshop. Therefore, for editing photos, I easily choose Adobe Lightroom. Although both tools are from Adobe, Lightroom is easier to use; it selects the whole photo as the object for manipulation. Meanwhile, Photoshop is a fine-grained tool for manipulating pixels and colors.
Lightroom is quite convenient for newbies; it has a variety of presets for changing tones of your pictures. Finding an appropriate preset for each picture, and your job is done. Besides, Lightroom is also extensible with many useful plug-ins. Right now, I ‘m using LRMogrify2 for photo watermarking and bordering. LRMogrify2 is a donation-ware; it contains a bunch of options that you often need before exporting your pictures. Donate to get the serial, you’re gonna find it worth the money.
A batch image processor
I installed Seashore as the batch image processing application on my Mac. Seashore is a Mac-dialect of GIMP, the well-known picture editor on Windows, Linux and Mac. Although Seashore is more powerful than just batch processing your images, I’m happy with using it that way.
2. Canon Utilities
4 months ago, I bought a second-hand Canon 40D for shooting photos. I didn’t have the companion CD to install Canon Utilities, so I did some search in the Internet. It turned out, you only had to do a little trick then you had a bunch of utilities for tweaking your pictures. At the moment, I’m using following tools from Canon:
– Digital Photo Professional: for editing, browsing pictures; especially important when you want to manipulate RAW photos.
– EOS Utility: a very handy tool; can be used for remote shooting. I usually employ it for updating Custom Picture Styles to my camera.
– PhotoStitch: if you are a fan of panorama images, it’s the right tool for you. It’s extremely simple, but powerful enough to merge fragment pictures to get a nice panorama one.
Here I mention the trick which was used to install Canon Utilities from their update packages. I use Digital Photo Professional as the example; other tools can be installed by applying the same process:
– Download Digital Photo Professional from Canon site, the website says that it’s the update package, but in reality, it’s the whole updated application.
– Right click on the *.app file, choose Show Package Contents.
– Browse to Contents -> Resources, find the file named SDI.bundle.
– Right click on SDI.bundle, go to Content folder.
– Delete Info.plist file inside Content folder.
When that Info.plist file is deleted, the package loses its update information and it becomes a ready to install application.
3. Other useful tools
Last month, I tried out some HDR pictures. I attempted to create a HDR photo from 3 pictures with different levels of exposure. I would like a simple and free tool for that purpose. Here are some utilities I had done the experiment:
– FDR Tools Basic: quite complex and powerful application, but it’s not easy to get a desirable result.
– HDRtist: a single-purpose application, actually I’m quite satisfied with its output. Therefore, I decided to keep it for playing with HDR images.
Here are my experience of playing with photos from the Canon DSLR camera on my Mac. Hope that you feel it useful and interesting as I did. Happy shooting!
